What Is Tooth Extraction?
Our primary objective is to preserve every patient’s natural teeth and promote long-term dental health. However, there are occasions when tooth extraction is the best option for the patient’s well-being. A simple tooth extraction, commonly referred to as tooth pulling, entails removing the entire tooth from its socket in the jawbone. We ensure a pain-free experience by administering anesthesia and utilizing forceps to gently loosen and extract the tooth safely.
Extraction Procedure
After administering local anesthesia and sedation to anxious patients, we use a specialized instrument to loosen the tooth. Once the tooth is properly loosened and the socket widened, forceps are gently applied to grasp and remove it. After the extraction, patients are instructed to bite down on gauze for 30 minutes to help control bleeding. We also recommend consuming cold items, such as ice cream or juice, to aid in this process. A soft diet for 24 to 48 hours, chewing on the opposite side, is advised, along with a recommended 12-hour rest and the use of painkillers for comfort.
